Florence Fire and Medical Department hosted their 5th annual Open House event on Oct. 12th, 2024. Over 350 community members joined us to celebrate fire prevention week at Florence Station 2. Florence Firefighter Charities partnered with NSFA, SMS Construction and Better Way Services to sponsor the event. The open house allowed the community to learn about the fire department, how they live, what types of emergencies they respond to, and what other agencies they work with to make Florence a safer community. The highlight of the open house was a live fire demo with one side showing how quickly sprinklers are activated and the other side displaying how quickly fire consumes a room. Spectators witnessed first-hand how quick fire grows, feel the radiant heat, and how firefighters suppress fire. We thank the community for joining us!
